The Next-Generation iManage Platform
Is Here
A closer look at the redesigned experience, updated document workflows, and AI capabilities now available for legal knowledge work.
On this page
The next-generation iManage platform is now generally available, marking an exciting step forward in how law firms can access knowledge, work across documents, and bring AI into everyday workflows.
Cornerstone.IT has supported law firms using iManage for decades. We have seen the platform evolve alongside the changing needs of law firms, and we believe this release gives firms meaningful new ways to simplify work and get more from the knowledge they already have.
The everyday experience
A new experience for everyday legal work
The next-generation platform introduces a redesigned interface with simpler navigation and a customizable homepage that can surface recent matters, documents, and favorites.
It also adds practical improvements throughout the platform, including:
- AI built natively into the platform experience
- Preview multiple documents without breaking the workflow
- Bulk actions for common document tasks
- Media in-platform video and audio playback with searchable video transcription
- Updates real-time changes across matters, folders, and documents
These changes are designed to reduce the steps involved in common tasks and make frequently used information easier to reach.
Governed knowledge
AI becomes part of the iManage experience
One of the most significant developments is the deeper integration of AI into the platform.
Instead of treating AI as a separate destination, the next-generation platform builds it into the tools and workflows people already use to work with firm knowledge. iManage describes the platform as having AI embedded throughout the experience, with insights grounded in governed content and traceable to their sources.
Depending on a firm’s licensing, available capabilities may include natural-language search with cited answers, automated document classification and metadata enrichment, AI-supported document comparison, and searchable video transcripts.
Why AI-native search matters
Users can ask questions in plain language and receive direct answers grounded in the firm’s governed content. Results remain tied to their sources and protected by the access controls already used within iManage.
Searchable video transcription also gives users another way to work with recorded content. Users can search an AI-generated transcript and move directly to the corresponding timestamp in the video, keeping the recording, transcript, and related matter content together.
For law firms, this creates an opportunity to make existing knowledge more accessible without separating it from the governance structures surrounding it.
Our perspective
Why Cornerstone.IT is sharing this news
We are not looking at this only as a new product release.
As an iManage Certified Partner and managed services provider focused on law firms, Cornerstone.IT looks at how technology performs within the complete environment attorneys and staff rely on. Our team supports iManage implementation, cloud migration, managed services, consulting, and data migration.
The next-generation platform gives us new opportunities to help firms:
- Bring natively integrated, governed AI capabilities closer to everyday legal work
- Make important matter and document information easier to access
- Reduce friction in common document workflows
- Align new functionality with existing permissions and information barriers
- Prepare internal workflows and configurations to support broader adoption
- Help users become comfortable with the new experience
“The goal is not simply to switch on a new interface. It is to help each firm identify where the new experience can make work easier, more intuitive, and more effective.”
Vidit Desai, Senior Technical Account Manager
Controlled rollout
Firms can explore the platform at their own pace
The next-generation platform became available in CloudiManage.com environments on October 1, but administrators remain in control of when the experience is enabled and which users receive access. Firms can introduce it to all users or begin with a selected group.
Users can move between the next-generation platform and the classic Work 10 Web experience, similar to switching between new and classic versions of Microsoft applications. The classic Work 10 Web also remains available, with no current end-of-life plans announced.
This flexibility gives firms room to explore the platform thoughtfully. A pilot group can experience the new interface, try relevant workflows, and help determine where the greatest opportunities exist before access is expanded.
What comes next
A promising next step for legal knowledge work
The next-generation iManage platform brings together a more intuitive user experience, updated document workflows, and AI capabilities grounded in governed firm knowledge.
We are excited to see how these capabilities develop and how law firms use them to make knowledge easier to find and everyday work easier to complete.
Cornerstone.IT can help firms explore the new platform, understand which capabilities are available within their current environment, and identify practical opportunities to put them to use.
